TWO NEW ROSS 'DRESS FOR LESS' OPEN IN LIVERMORE AND VACAVILLE

Newark, Calif., March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Ross 'Dress For Less' is kicking off its 1993 expansion program with the grand opening of two new San Francisco Bay Area stores -- Livermore and Vacaville -- on Sunday, March 7. These are two of eleven new stores opening throughout the country this spring, as Ross continues its nationwide expansion.
The 24,000-square-foot Livermore store is opening in the new Plaza 580 Shopping Center, located at the intersection of Interstate 580 and North First Street. The 323,800-square-foot power center includes such nationally known retailers as Target and Mervyn's.
The new 24,000-square-foot Vacaville store is located in Vacaville Commons, at the intersection of East Monte Vista and Nut Tree Parkway. It replaces an older location about two miles southwest of the new store. The new 400,000-square-foot power center features such nationally known retailers as Mervyn's, Target, Safeway and Big 5.
With these new additions, Ross will have a total of 37 stores in the greater San Francisco Bay Area, and 108 stores in California.
In commenting on these important new locations, Norman A. Ferber, president and chief executive officer, stated, "Since the beginning of 1992, we have made a major expansion thrust in the San Francisco Bay Area, opening seven new locations. The Bay Area is one of our most important markets, and we are firmly committed to strengthening our dominance in this key trade area for Ross by continuing to open prime fill-in and replacement locations like Livermore and Vacaville."
Nine other new Ross 'Dress For Less' stores are opening this spring in San Diego, Los Angeles, Portland, Phoenix, Philadelphia and McAllen, Texas. With these new openings, Ross will operate 231 stores in 18 states coast-to-coast.
Ross Stores Inc. (NASDAQ: ROST) generated sales of $1.046 billion in its 1992 fiscal year. The off-price retailer offers first quality, in-season, branded apparel and footwear for the entire family at 20 to 60 percent less than department and specialty store prices, as well as complete departments for accessories and fragrances at similar savings.
