TWIST AND SHOUT GYMNASTICS TEAM WINS AT REGIONAL MEET.

The Genesis Gymnastics' level 8 optional girls gymnastics gymnastics, exercises for the balanced development of the body (see also aerobics), or the competitive sport derived from these exercises. Competing against gymnasts of the same age, Danielle Buchanan, 11, of Lancaster, placed second on the beam with a score of 9.425 and won second place all around with a total score of 37.225.

In the 12A age group, Nicole Hernandez, 12, of Lancaster earned the title of Regional Bar Champion with the score of 9.4 and placed second on the balance beam with a score of 9.125.

Competing on the second day of the meet, Jane Lakritz, 15, of Lancaster and Melanie Yamabe, 15, of Santa Clarita Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  were in the 15B age division. Jane beat out 20 other gymnasts for the title of Regional Floor Champion with a score of 9.5, while Melanie won Regional Beam Champion with a score of 9.25 and placed second after her teammate on the floor exercise with a score of 9.45.

Lauren Casper, 14, of Palmdale, who was sidelined for part of the season after a fall from the beam early in the year, competed in session 6 against 25 other age 14B gymnasts and won third place in the all-around competition with a score of 36.4.
