 TWA CHAIRMAN NEARLY MISSES FLIGHT
NEW YORK, May 27 /PRNewswire/ -- TWA Flight 831 from New York's JFK

to Atlanta's Hartsfield International Airport left the gate on the dot at 7 p.m. last evening. The nearly sold-out flight almost departed with an empty seat in first-class. The last passenger to board the plane was none other than the airline's Chairman and CEO Carl C. Icahn whose car got stuck in gridlock following an accident on the Throg's Neck Bridge.
In contact with the airport from his car, Icahn made it clear that the plane should depart on schedule even if it meant missing his flight.
"We worked too hard to beat American, United and Delta for on-time performance, and I'm not going to be responsible for breaking our winning streak," he said. Fortunately, his car made it to the terminal with just two minutes to spare, saving the CEO from having to get to Atlanta on a rival carrier.
