TWA ACCELERATES SECOND PHASE OF ATLANTA HUB
MT. KISCO, N.Y., July 1 /PRNewswire/ -- TWA is accelerating the

second phase of its one month old Atlanta hub with the inauguration today of service to Charlotte, and new and expanded service to Ft. Lauderdale and Jacksonville effective August 1. This was announced by Craig Pavlus, TWA senior vice president, marketing.
"The reception TWA is receiving in Atlanta is extremely gratifying," said Pavlus, "and we are enjoying load factors in excess of 70 percent -- significantly higher than the industry average." The additional flights effective July 1st and August 1st represent approximately a 25 percent increase in TWA's Atlanta schedule since the inauguration of the new hub on June 1st. "We have established our niche as a reasonably priced alternative for Atlanta and will provide substantial savings for both the business and leisure traveler," Pavlus added.
The new Ft. Lauderdale service will be introduced on August 1st with a special introductory one way fare of $89 valid through August 23rd. A third flight from Atlanta to Jacksonville, Fla. will also be added on August 1st.
TWA's move into Atlanta is part of an ongoing restructuring of the airline through a mini-hub concept that has proven extremely popular with the traveling public in both New York's JFK and Atlanta's Hartsfield airports. TWA management is examining the possibility of expanding the mini-hub concept to other major airports throughout the country.
