"In the meeting held yesterday headed by the Deputy Minister

of Development, Mr. Alexandros Kalafatis, with the

participation of a Professor from the National Technical

administration officials and representatives of TVX led by the

with the continuation of the mining operations in Chalkidiki

were thoroughly examined.

During this meeting, a systematic evaluation (analysis) of the

study made by the NTUA took place. The mining method used by

Next Tuesday, February 12, 2002, a visit to the area by the

Deputy Minister has been scheduled. Administration officials

will accompany the Deputy Minister and the members of the

committee of NTUA who carried out the above-mentioned study. A

meeting will be held with local leaders, representatives of

the employees, and local citizens, where all the issues

related to the operation of the mine will be discussed.

With this meeting, all the necessary procedures will have been

completed so that the Government will be able to take and

announce its final decision definitely on Friday, February 15,

2002."
