TVI Corporation (NASDAQ: TVIN), a global supplier of rapidly deployable first receiver and first responder systems for homeland security, hospitals, the military, police and fire departments, and public health agencies, today announced that it has received an initial order for more than $450,000 from the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) for C420 powered air purifying respirator (PAPR) systems and accessories designed by TVI's Safety Tech International(TM) subsidiary.

The Department of Homeland Security's National Disaster Medical System (NDMS) National Medical Response Teams/WMD (NMRT) will employ this respiratory protection equipment to provide respiratory protection for medical personnel responding to a disaster. NMRT consists of a group of professional and para-professional medical personnel brought together to provide a wide range of disaster and non-disaster Federal medical mission services to include WMD incidents. TVI anticipates follow-on orders as NDMS expands and more NDMS medical personnel are trained in the use of PAPRs.
