TVI Corporation Receives $2.0 Million Contract from U.S. Army for C2A1 Filter Canisters; First Order for Company's Filter Canister Line; Creates Opportunities for Future Military Contracts.

GLENN DALE, Md. -- TVI Corporation (NASDAQ: TVIN), a global supplier of rapidly deployable first receiver and first responder systems for homeland security, hospitals, the military, police and fire departments, and public health agencies, today announced it has received an order valued at approximately $2.0 million from the U.S. Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command for TVI's C2A1 filter canisters, subject to first article approval. The contract is TVI's first military order for its filter canister manufacturing facility, located at its Glenn Dale, Maryland headquarters.

"Winning this contract from the U.S. Army is a milestone achievement for TVI," said TVI Corporation's President and Chief Executive Officer, Richard V. Priddy. "We view this contract as an important steppingstone with the U.S. military as it qualifies us to apply for additional contracts that are significantly larger in the years ahead. Prior year filter canister awards have averaged more than one million canisters annually. Although there is no guarantee of TVI being awarded future contracts, these canisters are a necessary component in military respirators that filter chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear agents, inorganic particulates, and toxic gases."

"TVI continues to make progress on the commercial approval front," Priddy continued. "We recently received NIOSH approval to incorporate our filter canister into one of our own PAPR designs. We are pursuing NIOSH approval for a number of additional commercial applications in an effort to begin sales to OEMs, several of whom have indicated an intent to purchase filter canisters once approval is received. In addition, we have submitted for various European approvals, and believe this C2A1 award establishes TVI's credibility both in the U.S. and abroad regarding its filter canister capabilities."

TVI's filter canister facility is a cost-efficient, fully-automated production line capable of supplying a wide variety of canisters. The operation was designed to produce a variety of canister types at high volumes, while providing surge capacity in the event of a major chemical attack, biological outbreak, or terrorist attack.
