TVI Corporation Delivers Hospital ER Decontamination Shelters.

GLENN DALE, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 26, 2000

TVI Corporation announced Wednesday that it had completed delivery of its Hospital ER Decontamination decontamination /de·con·tam·i·na·tion/ (de?kon-tam-i-na´shun) the freeing of a person or object of some contaminating substance, e.g., war gas, radioactive material, etc.

The hospitals include The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is one of the largest and oldest children's hospitals in the world. "CHOP" has been ranked as the best children's hospital in the United States by U.S. News & World Report and Child Magazine in recent years. , Crozer-Chester Medical Center, and Methodist Hospital Division of Thomas Jefferson University It began as Jefferson Medical College in 1824. On July 1, 1969 the institution officially became Thomas Jefferson University.

The university is made up of three colleges:
  • Jefferson Medical College
  • Jefferson College of Graduate Studies
 Hospital. The decontamination shelters were acquired as part of their comprehensive emergency preparedness planning.

Scott Arnold, Northeast Marketing Manager for TVI, stated that these deliveries represented the culmination of efforts to develop a decontamination shelter system meeting the unique requirements of hospital Emergency Rooms. He noted that key features included rapid operation, ease of use, suitability for both ambulatory and stretcher victims, and effectiveness in treating mass casualties contaminated in a Nuclear, Biological, or Chemical incident. He added, "the fact that these shelters are unique to each hospital underscores the versatility of TVI's shelter systems."

Chuck Payne, RN, chairman of Methodist Hospital's Emergency Preparedness Committee, noted that "TVI's shelter system is an integral part of our emergency preparedness plan. The addition of this system will be of great benefit to the community as we serve a highly industrialized in·dus·tri·al·ize

Dave Ingram, Director of Paramedics for Delaware County Memorial Hospital, sister hospital to Crozer, added that "TVI was eager to incorporate the elements we felt would make an effectively designed decontamination shelter that fit our needs. We are very happy with the results."
