Wesson, Barkley, Hornung, Goldberg and Taylor are among 100 celebrities participating in the 2001 Jimmy V Celebrity Golf Classic Sunday August 26 at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary, N.C. The annual golf tournament, which raised $1.85 million last year, is the largest fundraiser for The V Foundation for Cancer Research. The Jimmy V Celebrity Golf Classic was started by the late Jim Valvano, the legendary N.C. State University basketball coach who took his underdog team to victory in the 1983 NCAA NCAA abbr. National Collegiate Athletic Association Championship. Valvano also had an illustrious broadcast career with ESPN ESPN Entertainment and Sports Programming Network prior to succumbing to cancer in 1993.
