Even movie fans who feel passionate about the Academy Awards could be burned out by the sheer volume of today's preshow programming before the ceremony even begins at 5:30 p.m. Keeping in mind the adage ``everything in moderation,'' we suggest sampling from this smorgasbord of style and not much substance.

2001 FASHION REVIEW

What: Last year's wardrobe post-mortem by Joan and Melissa Rivers Melissa Rivers (born on January 20, 1968) is an American actress and television co-host for fashion/red carpet interviews on cable and satellite television, previously for the E! cable network and currently for the TV Guide channel with her mother, comedian Joan Rivers.  and assorted designers.

What: Two-hour ``Biography'' on Hollywood's beloved rugged individualist, airing as he receives an honorary Academy Award.

When: 6 p.m.

THE BARBARA WALTERS SPECIAL

What: Interviews with nominee Halle Berry as well as Tom Cruise and Sarah Jessica Parker.

Where: ABC (Channel 7).

When: 8:15 p.m. or immediately after the awards, if the show goes long. (Doesn't it always?)

LIVE ACADEMY AWARDS POST SHOW

What: Steve Kmetko and Jules Asner have interviews with winners and the post-show party scene.

Where: E!

When: 9 p.m.

AN EVENING AT THE ACADEMY AWARDS: THE WINNERS

What: Recap, armchair quarterbacking and more from the winners.

Where: ABC (Channel 7).

When: 9:15 p.m. officially, but really immediately following the Barbara Walters special.

FASHION POLICE: 2002 ACADEMY AWARDS
