3 Point Digital and Vsoft announce a major installation of a collaborative tool to revolutionize the approval process in television production. This new technology from Vsoft eliminates one of the final production bottlenecks by streaming full-screen, DVD-quality video and audio to multiple desktop PCs from a central server. This eliminates the costly and time-consuming cycle of making dubs of a show then messengering VHS (Video Home System) A half-inch, analog videocassette recorder (VCR) format introduced by JVC in 1976 to compete with Sony's Betamax, introduced a year earlier.  copies to various executives for viewing and shortens the approval process form 24 hours to one hour.

Producers of the syndicated music show "Motown Live" are one of the first to install the system. "3 Point Digital came in and analyzed the traditional workflow of how TV shows are made today and we quickly saw how, just when we're in a hurry to meet delivery schedules, the postproduction post·pro·duc·tion

VideoClick from Vsoft enables users to simultaneously access MPEG-encoded video on their desktop PC using familiar VCR VCR: see videocassette recorder.

A unique feature of VideoClick lets users add textual, vocal and graphical notes to any section or any frame of the video, eliminating the tedious process of collating notes from different parties. Producers can view the recent cut of a show at their desktop and collaborate in real time with any number of users by attaching notes to the video. On completing his cut, the editor encodes the video from his Avid Media Composer to the central server at the production facility. The video is immediately available for viewing and full interaction, even during encoding See encode. , to producers and other staff with the appropriate viewing permissions. The editor, in his editing room, can simultaneously see these notes as staff members are making them.

Corporate executives, connected to the remote production facility via T1 line, can sign off on the completed show from desktop PCs without having to wait for a VHS dub of the show. Those with security concerns can feel assured because this is not the Internet; VideoClick runs on a private network with highly controlled access using passwords.

"It's an enormous time saver," stated "Motown Live" editor, Barnaby Levy "Since the notes are attached to the video, I don't have to guess what the notes refer to or look up timecodes so by the time one production executive calls me, an hour later I've already made the changes."

"3 Point Digital and Vsoft are offering a unique solution with the potential to revolutionize television production," said Jeff Aghjayan, director of sales for Vsoft, Inc. "What used to take 24 hours now takes less than one hour."
