Through an arrangement with Verizon Wireless Cellco Partnership, doing business as Verizon Wireless, owns and operates the second largest wireless telecommunications network in the United States, based on total wireless customers. , TV Guide is adding an interactive element to the two-hour special. During the broadcast, viewers will be prompted to vote for their favorite TV couple from among three of the year's most talked about duos: Benjamin McKenzie Benjamin McKenzie (born Benjamin McKenzie Schenkkan on September 12, 1978) is an American actor best known for playing Ryan Atwood on the television series The O.C.  & Mischa Barton (The O.C.); Tom Welling & Kristin Kreuk (Smallville); and Nick Lachey & Jessica Simpson. Verizon Wireless customers will be able to cast their vote by sending a text message from their cellular phone using special codes assigned to each nominated couple. The codes will be broadcast during the show and the votes will be calculated in real time. In addition, each voter will automatically be entered to win a trip to Hollywood as part of the "Verizon Wireless Hollywood Sweepstakes." At the end of the two-hour special, host George Lopez will announce the year's favorite couple, as chosen by participating fans, as well as the Sweepstakes winner.
