TV ACTOR TO STAR IN PLAY AS QUIXOTE, CERVANTES.

Byline: Greg Botonis Staff Writer

For the Los Angeles-based theater group Will & Company, a play is the best vehicle for exploring the meaning of the Spanish classic two-book novel ``Don Quixote.''

To be performed Saturday at the Palmdale Playhouse, ``Don Quixote de la Mancha'' stars veteran television actor Henry Darrow Henry Darrow (born Enrique Tomas Delgado, Jr. on September 15, 1933 in New York City) - is an Emmy Award winning Puerto Rican actor. Darrow is probably best remembered for his role of "Manolito" in the popular 1960s television series The High Chaparral.  as ``Quixote'' author Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra. The play explores the relationship of the writer with the anachronistic a·nach·ro·nism

The play opens with Cervantes in a Spanish prison as he begins work on the second book about Don Quixote. As he writes, however, the characters begin to come to life.

After the initial shock wears off, the characters begin to rebel, disagreeing with the way the story line is progressing. The result is the battle for control of the book.

``Luckily, the part I play is seated most of the time,'' said Darrow. ``The kids are out there jumping and flying, and the sword fights are up to them. It's kind of nice, now that I'm semi-retired, that directors still give me the opportunity to get on stage . . . with the kids.''
