AT VANDERBILT MEDICAL CENTER IN NASHVILLE
NEW YORK, Oct. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Turner Construction Company has secured a contract with Vanderbilt University for construction of its new Medical Research Building II at the Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn., according to an announcement made today by The Turner Corporation (AMEX: TUR). This will be Turner's 15th project with Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Turner has been performing preconstruction services for the past two years for the new eight-story, 200,000 square foot medical research building, designed by The Stubbins Associates, Inc., a Cambridge, Mass.- based architectural firm. The new building will be tied to the Medical Research Building I, also built by Turner, and will feature the latest in medical research technology.
"We are, of course, very pleased with this latest contract from Vanderbilt," commented Hal Bunshaw, the Turner vice president and general manager of the company's Nashville office. "Continued association through repeat contracts is the best reward for a job well done."
Turner, which has ranked as the number one general contractor or construction manager for the past seven years on Modern Healthcare magazine's design and construction survey, has been operating in Nashville since 1974. In addition to its work at Vanderbilt, Turner is currently working on the 250,000 square-foot Tennessee State Office Building II and the 900,000 square foot Saint Thomas Hospital renovation in Nashville, the Regional Medical Center in Memphis and has recently completed the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga.
