"We are very excited about the agreement with Mach-Shevet to protect Barbie by Mattel localized for the Turkish market. This is a significant first step in establishing DiscGuard as a worldwide standard and a powerful weapon against CD piracy," said Marc Tokayer, Chairman and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of TTR. "This is further confirmation that using DiscGuard is the most effective measure a software publisher can take to protect his investment against the scourge of CD piracy. We have been getting positive feedback from software publishers in North America, Europe and Japan in response to our recent campaign to distribute sample DiscGuard discs. As a result, we are currently in negotiations with many software publishers and expect to announce the results of those negotiations as soon as they are concluded," Mr. Tokayer added.

Mach-Shevet, based in Herziliya, a city north of Tel Aviv, distributes multimedia software on more than 500,000 discs a year, or about 20 percent of the local multimedia market.

DiscGuard addresses both the problems of illicit mass-production of software or other electronic content (counterfeiting) and copying by the casual user using low-cost CD recorders.

DiscGuard places an indelible digital "signature" on optical media at the time of manufacture, without which the software cannot be used. This "signature" is designed to be read by disc drives but cannot be duplicated by disc recorders or by re-mastering, making it a highly effective weapon in the battle against the illegal duplication of software, games, video and other content, distributed on optical discs.

DiscGuard protection is currently available at Nimbus CD International, Inc. replication facilities. Nimbus CD International Inc., one of the world's largest independent disc replicators, licensed DiscGuard technology at the end of last year. Its compact discs are distributed throughout North America, the United Kingdom and continental Europe.

The new agreement follows TTR's December 1997 announcement that it had licensed DiscGuard technology to Doug Carson & Associates, Inc., the world's leading supplier of signal processing systems used to create CD and DVD DVD: see digital versatile disc.
