TTC Adds OC-12c to the T-BERD 310 Communications Analyzer; Tester Provides 100-Percent Payload Analysis at OC-12c Rates.ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 8, 1997--TTC(R), a Dynatech company (NYSE NYSE See: New York Stock Exchange :DYT), Wednesday announced that it has added OC-12c ATM test capability to the T-BERD T-BERD T-1 Bit Error Rate Detector T-BERD Time Bearing Elevation Range Doppler (R) 310 Communications Analyzer. The OC-12c interface, combined with the T-BERD 310's existing ATM capability and its strong physical layer test capability make it unique in the ATM testing industry. It is approved by more service providers than any other SONET tester(a). The OC-12c option is the latest field-upgradeable enhancement to the T-BERD 310, and can be purchased individually, independent of other ATM interface rates, for a more cost-effective, customized solution. Unlike competing products, TTC's new OC-12c option provides 100-percent payload analysis and generation of ATM traffic at OC-12c rates. In addition, the T-BERD 310 supports the same entire suite of QoS measurements and traffic generation capabilities at the OC-12c rate as it does for the existing OC-3c rate. Also supported at OC-12c are the exclusive TTC SEARCH and PREVIEW features. The SEARCH mode isolates switches that are incorrectly provisioned. The PREVIEW mode is used for in-service monitoring to identify potential sources of congestion The condition of a network when there is not enough bandwidth to support the current traffic load. congestion - When the offered load of a data communication path exceeds the capacity. . "The T-BERD 310's extensive set of physical layer capabilities continues to distinguish the instrument as the market-leading analyzer for installation and maintenance of transport networks," said Laura McInerney, product marketing manager, TTC. "For example, the T-BERD 310 now enables users to analyze ATM payloads at full bandwidth or multiplexed interfaces, an application in great demand by service providers offering multiplexed transport capability to independent ATM customers, or even to other service providers." TTC currently is accepting orders for the OC-12c option, which will be ready to ship in the first quarter of 1998. It is priced at $8,695. The T-BERD 310 incorporates strong physical layer testing functionality with ATM test features that make it ideal for network set up and prequalification. The instrument provides unparalleled flexibility in the test market, offering simultaneous testing of SONET, dual DS3, DS1, ATM and optical networks. DS3 pulse shape, jitter and a secondary DS3 receiver make the analyzer one of the most powerful and flexible test products on the market. In addition, the portable unit can be used in the central office, laboratory, MTSO (Mobile Telephone Switching Office) An operations center that connects the landline PSTN system to the mobile phone system.
