TTC's New T-BERD 109XC Offers Local Exchange Carriers Proactive Testing in a Mobile Computer.GERMANTOWN, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 4, 1998-- Only TTC's New Subscriber Loop Analyzer Allows POTS and ISDN ISDN in full Integrated Services Digital Network Digital telecommunications network that operates over standard copper telephone wires or other media. Testing Via a Field Computing Platform TTC, a Dynatech company (NYSE NYSE See: New York Stock Exchange : DYT), today announced a test solution that enhances local exchange carriers' ability to provide their residential customers with high-speed Internet access and improved service quality. The TTC T-BERD 109XC, which debuts at SuperComm (TTC booth 5839), accomplishes this by incorporating all-in-one, icon-driven, voice and data testing in a rugged, mobile computing platform. Integrated with the industry leading Itronix X-C Family of Mobile Computers, the T-BERD 109XC brings a powerful weapon to local exchange carriers whose residential customer base is vulnerable in an increasingly competitive communications industry. "The TTC T-BERD 109XC has been developed so that a common computing platform can be employed to increase productivity, drive better quality, improve customer service and turn the local exchange carrier's field force into a strategic asset," said Greg Quiggle, product line manager, TTC. "This new instrument is not just a test set, it's a test strategy." The TTC T-BERD 109XC's features include a DVOM, TIMS, open meter, noise meter, TDR, POTS handset, and ISDN handset with BERT (Bit Error Rate Test) An analysis of network transmission efficiency that computes the percentage of bits received in error from the total number sent. . All user interaction is completed by means of a graphical user interface graphical user interface (GUI) Computer display format that allows the user to select commands, call up files, start programs, and do other routine tasks by using a mouse to point to pictorial symbols (icons) or lists of menu choices on the screen as opposed to having to that is consistent between POTS and ISDN testing applications, enabling users to learn to test digital services more quickly. Also, the closeout test feature of this integrated tester allows carriers to define an automated acceptance test to be used when closing trouble tickets or qualifying new service orders for POTS and ISDN. The resulting far-end test results can then be automatically appended to the applicable trouble ticket or service order for future usage. TTC currently is accepting orders for the T-BERD 109XC Subscriber Loop Analyzer. The instrument is priced under $4,000.
