TSI Telecommunication Services Inc. (TSI) (www.tsiconnections.com), a global communications technology company, today announced the launch of EAP-SIM (Extensible Authentication Protocol -- Subscriber Identity Module) authentication capabilities. The launch of TSI's EAP-SIM authentication service bridges technical incompatibilities between Wi-Fi networks and GSM networks, creating a seamless Wi-Fi experience for subscribers.

TSI's EAP-SIM authentication service provides the interface for passing user credentials between the RADIUS-based Wi-Fi network and the SIM-based GSM operator's network. RADIUS is the authentication and accounting protocol used in Wi-Fi networks, which is incompatible with the database used by GSM operators to identify subscribers, features and services. EAP-SIM authentication is the latest addition to TSI's Wi-Fi services, which currently includes billing record conversion (RADIUS to TAP 3.10), as well as clearing and settlement services.

TSI's EAP-SIM is part of a suite of Wi-Fi services offered in partnership with Wi-Fi industry leader Boingo Wireless. TSI and Boingo combined forces last year to bring an end-to-end Wi-Fi solution to the industry that combines TSI's long-term wireless industry clearing, settlement and interoperability expertise with Boingo's worldwide hot spot footprint. Through TSI's relationship with Boingo, wireless operators can leverage Boingo's private-label client software and nearly 6,000 HotSpots to add fully-branded Wi-Fi services to their existing product offerings. In addition, operators can utilize TSI services to integrate their existing systems, including combining authentication and billing data into a seamless reporting stream to simplify customer billing.
