:TRW) for a $511 million, seven-year contract to develop and support information systems that aid CDC public health research, surveillance, and intervention efforts and serve its centers, institutes and offices nationwide.

The CDC protects people's health and safety by preventing and controlling diseases and injuries; enhances health decisions by providing credible information on critical health issues; and promotes healthy living through strong partnerships with local, national and international organizations.

TRW Systems, based in Reston, has designed, tested and installed scientific and administrative systems for the CDC since October 1996. These include systems that collect and report disease data for surveillance and outbreak investigations; receive, store, retrieve and track laboratory specimens; and perform statistical analyses to identify risk factors and support the development of appropriate public health intervention health intervention Health care An activity undertaken to prevent, improve, or stabilize a medical condition  programs.
