TRW wins $40.8 million contract for California Prison Information System.


CARSON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 11, 1995--TRW's Systems Integration Group has been awarded a $40.8 million contract to develop and install a computerized management information system for the state of California's Department of Corrections.

The Correctional Management Information System (CMIS (Common Management Information Services) Pronounced "c-miss." An OSI standard that defines the functions for network monitoring and control.

CMIS will link 75 state correctional facilities into local area networks, and a statewide area network that will track inmate data, including transfers, calculate release dates, record trust account information, job assignments and other related data.

CMIS will provide accurate and immediate access to offender information, integrating independent systems and automating many functions that are currently performed manually. Work on the six year contract is expected to begin shortly and state-wide implementation is expected to be completed by mid-1997.
