TRW Inc. will feature its technology and systems/software engineering expertise for the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF), National Missile Defense National Missile Defense (NMD) as a generic term is a military strategy and associated systems to shield an entire country against incoming Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs). The missiles could be intercepted by other missiles, or possibly by lasers.  and other U.S. Navy programs next week at the 2000 Sea-Air-Space Systems & Technology Exposition, sponsored by the Navy League of the United States The Navy League of the United States, commonly referred to as The Navy League, is a national association made up of retired members of the United States Navy, United States Marine Corps, the United States Coast Guard and the United States Merchant Marines, and civilians . The show will be held at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, D.C., April 18-20. TRW will be located at Booth No. 3213.

TRW's ability to offer a fully integrated systems solution for flight controls, engine controls, and power generation within one company distinguishes it from other suppliers to the JSF. The company has a contract for the Rolls-Royce Allison LiftFan(TM) clutch control system and the LiftFan(TM) drive shaft for Lockheed Martin's Concept Demonstrator Aircraft (CDA) Short Take-Off/Vertical Landing (STOVL STOVL short takeoff and vertical landing aircraft (US DoD) ) JSF. TRW also is supplying the 270V DC emergency power generating system to Lockheed Martin for the Joint/Integrated Subsystems Technology (J/IST J/IST JSF/Integrated Subsystem Technology ) demonstrator program. The J/IST demonstrator program is designed to develop further critical technologies for transition into JSF.

TRW is the prime contractor for research and development, and operations and maintenance at the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization's (BMDO) Joint National Test Facility (JNTF). In March 1999, BMDO awarded TRW a $47 million contract modification for operations and maintenance responsibilities at the JNTF where it had served for the past four years as prime contractor for research and development.

TRW is also developing the Battle Management Command, Control, and Communications (BMC (BMC Software, Inc., Houston, TX, www.bmc.com) A leading supplier of software that supports and improves the availability, performance, and recovery of applications in complex computing environments. 3) system for the National Missile Defense (NMD NMD Neuromuscular disease, see there ) program under a $183 million three-year contract from Lead Systems Integrator, The Boeing Company. TRW is responsible for developing, integrating, testing, and operating the BMC3 capability for the NMD effort over a 10-year period if all options of the contract are exercised.

) and the Joint Training Analysis and Simulation Center (JTASC JTASC Joint Training, Analysis, and Simulations Center (US DoD) ), TRW is incorporating all the elements of joint warfare within the modeling and simulation area. At JNTF, a unique wargaming center staffed by all the services, TRW is supporting the JNTF commander and his staff in accomplishing missile defense missions.

TRW will be featuring a range of products on the stand including an Integrated Actuation Package (IAP (Internet Access Provider) See ISP.

(TM)), a high-power electro-mechanical actuator motor; an integrated control actuation system supplied on the Joint Stand Off Weapon (JSOW); the Joint Strike Fighter lift fan drive shaft; helicopter flexible main drive shaft; and internal and external personnel rescue hoists.
