TRW Awarded Treasury Department Contract.

The U.S. Department of Treasury has awarded TRW Inc. (NYSE: TRW) a contract to provide information technology services to the Department, its Bureaus and the Internal Revenue Service.

The Treasury Information Processing Support Services-2 task-order contract, called TIPSS-2, has a potential value of up to $250 million over the next five years.

TRW's Systems & Information Technology Group, based in Reston, will support the four principal TIPSS-2 task areas: information systems services, telecommunications support services, organizational/management services and operational support services.

The Treasury Department said the IRS would be the primary user of this IDIQ (indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity) contract to support its ongoing tax systems and to provide the full range of information processing support services for project-level support.

As the prime contractor on the IRS Integration Support Contract (ISC), TRW has provided engineering and information technology services and support to the Internal Revenue Service since 1991.
