NEWHALL -- A tanker truck jackknifed Tuesday in the Newhall Pass Newhall Pass is a mountain pass in Los Angeles County, California, USA. Traffic backed up about five miles on state Route 14, with motorists opting to exit the freeway on The Old Road, which also backed up.

Veksler told investigators he was traveling at 50 mph when he saw brake lights ahead on the transition road, hit his brakes, veered into the bridge railing to his left, then skidded till he jackknifed across both lanes, according to the CHP report. The truck lanes were closed for 2 1/2 hours.
