TROPHY Study Confirms Cardesartan Cilexetil Reduces Risk of Hypertension.

The TROPHY study, which covered 772 people with prehypertension in the US, evaluated how cardesartan cilexetil affects the incidence of hypertension.

The study results indicate that the risk of hypertension was significantly lowered in the group administered with cardersartan cilexetil, as compared with the placebo placebo (pləsē`bō), inert substance given instead of a potent drug. Placebo medications are sometimes prescribed when a drug is not really needed or when one would not be appropriate because they make patients feel well taken care of.  group.

Cardersartan cilexetil is currently available in Japan under the trade name of Blopress.
