 on Tuesday.

A mechanic, the Pacoima resident said working under cars while they're running makes regular summer heat almost unbearable.

``It gets really hot,'' he said as two fans brought some relief at his North Hollywood shop. ``It feels like the temperature reaches 125 degrees.''

Temperatures will continue to rise through today, with forecasters warning that they could rise above 100 degrees again in the San Fernando Valley.

Tuesday's highs hit 109 in Woodland Hills, 107 in Chatsworth, 104 in Northridge, 102 in Van Nuys, and 97 in Burbank.

They prompted the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS) in Los Angeles County's department providing public and personal health services to the over 10 million residents in the County.  to issue an ``extreme heat advisory.'' Health officials urged residents to drink plenty of fluids, wear light-color, loose-fitting clothing and never leave children or pets inside vehicles.

The temperatures, while hot, won't compare with the 16 days of triple- digit A single character in a numbering system. In decimal, digits are 0 through 9. In binary, digits are 0 and 1.

``We're not going to break any records with this temperature,'' said Stuart Seto, weather specialist with the National Weather Service. ``It's just going to be warm and uncomfortable. People should drink plenty of fluids, keep their body hydrated hy·drat·ed

Temperatures are expected to drop five degrees by week's end, and temperatures should remain at that level for another week or two, Seto said.

For Jimmy Rosales, a driver for Car Quest, that's good news. The Van Nuys man, who delivers car parts throughout the Valley, said the only way to cope with the heat is with air conditioning air conditioning, mechanical process for controlling the humidity, temperature, cleanliness, and circulation of air in buildings and rooms. Indoor air is conditioned and regulated to maintain the temperature-humidity ratio that is most comfortable and healthful. .

``I'm grateful to have AC in my truck,'' he said. ``It gets pretty bad.''
