tales of suspense and revenge come to the Palmdale Playhouse tonight through Halloween, when the Palmdale City Players present ``Halloween Radio Trilogy.''

The stage show is performed as if the cast were broadcasting from a radio station, with all the sound effects sound effects

 provided by the cast members.

``It would be just like walking into a 1940s radio station and sitting down and watching a live broadcast go out,'' said Cathy Felty, stage manager for the production.

The show is directed by Dea McAllister, cultural arts/theatre manager of the Playhouse. It features Edgar Allan Poe's ``The Cask of Amontillado amontillado (əmŏn'tĭlä`dō), dry sherry noted for its delicate bouquet, resembling the wine of Montilla, Spain, from which it derives its name. A blend of pale, dry sherries of the palma type, it assumes in aging a darker color. ,'' Rudyard Kipling's ``The Mark of the Beast'' and Oscar Wilde's ``The Canterville Ghost Canterville ghost

Included in the evening's entertainment are commercials between the stories and interaction of the actors as radio personalities.

``But we've put a little twist into it, so we're not the first-rated or the top studio, but these are people who are characters in themselves,'' said McAllister. ``We're third-best, so we've got to try real hard.''

Patrons are invited to come dressed in costumes on all three nights. Free tickets to a show at the Playhouse will be awarded to the best classic costumes. The only restriction on costumes is no glitter.

``When we say 'classic costume,' we're not talking about somebody in a 1950s poodle skirt A poodle skirt is a wide swing skirt worn with layers of petticoats underneath, often on its own (worn with a cardigan) or sometimes as part of a dress. It was a fashion of the 1950s, most notably 1955, popular with young women and teenage girls of the Silent Generation. , we're talking about some thought put into the costumes like Dracula, the Headless Horseman Headless Horseman

Because of subject matter, the show is recommended only for ages 12 and up.

Halloween Radio Trilogy will be performed at 7:30 p.m. today, Thursday and Friday at the Playhouse, 38334 10th St. E. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors, students and military.
