It gives them a very good idea of where their strengths and weaknesses lie so they can concentrate on specific areas between now and the actual competition.'' The purpose of the ``scrimmages'' is to determine which nine students will represent each school at next year's competitions. Sixty LAUSD LAUSD Los Angeles Unified School District (Los Angeles, CA) high schools will compete Jan. 25 and Feb. 1 for the honor of representing the district in statewide competitions scheduled for March 7 through 9 in Modesto. Last year, nine LAUSD teams made it to the state competition in Modesto. Academic decathlons are held at school districts throughout the nation. |
