TREASURE ISLAND CASINO OPENS NEW EXPANSION; 78,000 SQUARE FOOT ADDITION CONTAINS MAJOR RESTAURANTS, LOUNGE, BANQUET ROOM, MORE GAMING

RED WING, Minn., June 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Treasure Island Casino & Bingo unveiled a new, major 78,000 square foot addition to its existing casino that features major restaurants, a sports lounge, banquet facilities, expanded kitchen space and over 200 new slot machines. The new addition means the creation of more than 200 jobs. Coupled with its previous existing facility, it makes the gaming and entertainment facility on the banks of the Mississippi River among the largest and most complete in the Midwest.
"This expansion enables us to continue providing our guests with the very best in gaming and entertainment," said John Hall, general manager of Treasure Island Casino. "Our guests will come away from here having enjoyed the many gaming opportunities we provide as well as the best in dining, service and atmosphere."
Designed and built on the north side of the original casino, the new addition is a modern, user-friendly complex with a wide-range of guest services and amenities. Projecting a tropical theme and using an array of pastel colors, archways and both recessed and neon lighting, the new addition offers a vast array of dining experiences.
The Trade Winds Buffet is 4,100 square feet in size and can seat up to 250 persons. The Palm Room offers find dining and is 1,400 square feet in size and has seating for 100. Java's Coffee Shop is 1,750 square feet in size and seats up to 116. In addition, Toucan Harry's is a 2,100 square foot sports lounge with a seating capacity of 140.
A major ballroom of 7,300 square feet can accommodate large groups and can also be divided into two smaller areas which can provide service for smaller groups.
A grand entrance on the northwest corner of the building features a covered drop off area, waiting area and valet parking. The main lobby is adjoined by a gift shop offering casino souvenirs, gifts, personal items and authentic arts and crafts designed by Dakota tribal artisans. A redemption area for members of the Captain's Club and coat check station is also located in the lobby. Two gaming alcoves at the rear of the lobby offer an array of slot machines for gaming.
There is over 32,000 square feet dedicated to a major kitchen facility, storage, mechanical rooms, casino staff office space, corridors and public restrooms. The new addition brings the total space for Treasure Island Casino to over 150,000 square feet.
In addition to the expansion to the casino, Treasure Island has also opened up a new marina and an RV park.
The marina is located to the east, or behind the casino, on Sturgeon Lake, which is part of the Mississippi River. Its first phase has 134 slips and can dock watercraft up to 190 feet in length. It will be a consistent eight feet in depth.
The RV Park will accommodate up to 80 recreational vehicles and has hookups for water, sewage and electricity.
"On behalf of the Prairie Island Mdewakanton Dakota Tribal Council and community, I want to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation for a job well-done," said Freeman Johnson, chairman of the Tribal Council. "The new addition to the casino and the creation of the marina and RV park are further steps in our ongoing efforts to always offer the best in facilities and services to our valued customers and to assure further economic growth which benefits all the members of the tribal community."
