TRC Named Supervising Contractor for BNSF Railway Company Remediation Project.

WINDSOR, Conn. -- TRC (NYSE:TRR) announced today that it has been retained by the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway Company (BNSF) as Supervising Contractor to implement the remedial design and construction activity at the former Albuquerque Tie Treatment Facility Superfund site. "This is one of the largest remediation projects in TRC's history," said Richard Ellison, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TRC.

BNSF recently entered into a consent decree with US EPA to complete a remedial design and remedial action at this site. The site was operated as a wood treating facility from 1907 to 1972. BNSF voluntarily initiated investigation of this site under the state of New Mexico's supervision. The site was placed on the National Priorities List in 1995. The US EPA Record of Decision (ROD) requires that soils and groundwater at the site be remedied to a health-based level. According to the ROD, the estimated total cost of the potential remedial technologies ranges from $40 million to $60 million.
