Head north to the second annual autumn home tour sponsored by the Greater Oxnard & Harbors Tourism Bureau and spend a few hours touring some grand old homes built between 1903 and 1926. Then make a day of it by heading over to Channel Islands Harbor, Channel Islands Boulevard and Victoria Avenue in Oxnard, to relax by the sea or take in the Maritime Museum A maritime museum (sometimes nautical museum) is a museum specializing in the display of objects relating to ships and travel on seas and lakes. Levy. ``A lot of these homes were built for the sugar-beet families,'' she said, referring to the area's original settlers, which included the Oxnard brothers after which the town was named. The homes are centered on and around F Street, an upscale neighborhood in its heyday. Home-tour participants can wander the 1.4-mile round-trip route at their own pace, Banner-Basin said. D St.: Built as a wedding present in 1903 by members of the Wineman family for their daughter, this colonial revival home features a recessed porch with square columns.
