The U.S. House Subcommittee on Railroads intends to introduce a bill on Thursday June 17 to tighten security for passenger and freight rail. It is apparently prepared to provide the financial resources necessary to improve security against terrorist attacks by proposing $1 billion in federal funds Federal Funds

TSA says airports still not secure. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is focusing too much time on screening passengers and not enough on paying attention to airport workers' access to secure areas, says a new General Accounting Office (GAO) report. The report was requested by Sen. Joe Lieberman (D-Conn.), who believes airports need to be more prepared for terrorist threats. In some cases, workers who only occasionally require access to secure areas have not had a background check, or a fingerprint taken, even though it is a regulation.
