Ever been to the reopening of a lake? Here's your chance. Silverwood Lake Silverwood Lake is a large reservoir in San Bernardino County, California, located on the west fork of the Mojave River in the San Bernardino Mountains. It was created in 1971 by the construction of the Cedar Springs Dam, and has a capacity of 73,000 acre feet (90,000,000 m³). , closed to boaters November through April for the installation of a new outtake out·take

 tower, reopens with a variety of events from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

A family fishing clinic, boat tours, guided nature walks, entertainment, aquatic demonstrations and children's games are among the events planned at the lake, which is part of the Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area. Admission to the park is $6 per car ($5 for seniors); events are free. On Sunday, an adult fishing tournament will be held from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Registration for the tournament will be accepted until 9 a.m. Again, visitors pay entrance fees to the park.

,, even a Portuguese horseback bull fight are part of the celebration of the first harvest of the L.A. Cetto Winery in Baja California, Mexico, Aug. 30.

Baja California Tours is sponsoring a trip to the event, which also includes a blessing of the grapes, a Scaramousa riding exhibit, dinner and dancing. The trip leaves at noon from the King's Inn, San Diego, and returns about 11:30 p.m. Cost is $97 per person. Reservations: (619) 454-7166.

Setting sail for boat show

A classic wooden schooner schooner (sk`nər), sailing vessel, rigged fore-and-aft, with from two to seven masts.  race will be one of the highlights of the Channel Islands Harbor second annual boat show Thursday through Aug. 3 at the Marine Emporium Waterfront Center, 3600 S. Harbor Blvd., Channel Islands Harbor, Oxnard.

Schooners will set sail beginning 10 a.m. Aug. 2. In addition, the show will feature new and used power and sail boats, an art festival on Aug. 2 and 3, food and entertainment. Hours are noon to 6 p.m. Thursday, noon to 8 p.m. Aug. 1, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 2, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 3. Information: (805) 985-4852.
