One-hour steam train rides aboard the Fillmore & Western Railroad The following railroads have been known as Western Railroad or Western Railway:

Train rides will leave from Central Park on Central Avenue at 10:30 a.m., noon, 1:30 and 3 p.m. Cost for the train ride is $14 for adults, $12 for seniors, $8 for children ages 4 to 12. Children under 4 ride free. No reservations are required. A slide show on the historic railroad also will be presented at the nearby Fillmore Towne Theater on Central Avenue. Boat show at Newport

The Newport Dunes Marina will show off fishing boats, family cruisers and yachts at the 24th annual Newport Harbor Boat Show, Wednesday through March 23.

Opening-day hours are noon to 6 p.m. Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and March 21, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 22 and 23. Admission is $8 for adults, free for children 12 and under. The purr-fect exhibit

Cat lovers can get the scoop on felines of all sizes at the ``Cats! Wild to Mild'' exhibit opening Sunday at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County opened in Exposition Park, Los Angeles, California, USA in 1913 as the Museum of History, Science, and Art. Celebrating the green

Ventura Harbor Village, 1559 Spinnaker Drive, Ventura, will celebrate St. Patrick's Day from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday with Irish and Scottish dancers, bag pipes, entertainment, pony rides and games. The event is free. Information: (805) 644-0169.
