Two, seven-day packages to Britain offer a rental car and stays in country inns and cottages starting at $499 per person, double occupancy.

Offered by Country Cottages, the ``Go As You Please'' package includes six nights' accommodations in a choice of country inns and London hotels, with daily breakfast and use of a rental car for all days except those spent in London.

The ``Best of the Real Britain'' package includes three nights in London or Edinburgh and three nights in a country cottage in England, Wales Wales, Welsh Cymru, western peninsula and political division (principality) of Great Britain (1991 pop. 2,798,200), 8,016 sq mi (20,761 sq km), west of England; politically united with England since 1536. The capital is Cardiff.  or Scotland, as well as a rental car for three days.

The packages are good through Dec. 19, but supplements of $60 per person are charged from May 24-31, and $100 supplement is charged from June 28 to Aug. 29. Air fare to England is not included. Information: (800) 674-8883.
