BritRail Travel International offers two special rail passes aimed at making family vacations more affordable.

BritRail offers a free Kid's Pass for one child age 5 to 15 who accompanies an adult buying a BritRail Classic Pass, BritRail Flexipass or BritRail Senior Pass. It also offers 50 percent off the adult pass price to additional accompanying children age 5-15; children under 5 travel free.

The Senior Pass, for travelers 60 and older, is priced 15 percent off the adult first-class BritRail Flexipass or Classic Pass. Information: (800) 677-8585,

Cruise savings: Crystal Cruises offers "Perfect Harmony" fares for 11-, 12-, 13- and 14-day China/Orient and Australia/New Zealand cruises this fall aboard the Crystal Harmony. The promotional fares - 15 percent to 18 percent off early-booking rates and as much as 40 percent off published rates - begin at $3,699 per person, double occupancy, plus $200 for air fare from the West Coast. Fare wars: Northwest Airlines offers fares discounted by up to 50 percent for travel through April 30 to destinations within the continental United States United States territory, including the adjacent territorial waters, located within North America between Canada and Mexico. Also called CONUS. , Hawaii, Alaska, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. Some other major carriers have matched the fares, which must be ticketed by Tuesday.

Lowest fares are for flights on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Sale fares require a 14-day advance purchase and a Saturday night stay. Contact airlines for prices.
