TRANSIT AGENCY PLANS BIGGEST TOY DRIVE YET.

Byline: Greg Botonis Staff Writer

LANCASTER - Antelope Valley Transit Authority's eighth annual ``Stuff-A-Bus'' charity drive kicked off Friday, and this year organizers say they are pulling out all the stops.

A bus decorated as Santa's sleigh will be moved to locations throughout the valley while volunteers, dressed as elves, accept donations.

``This is our eighth year for Stuff-A-Bus, and the level of community involvement has grown larger than ever,'' said Ron Carter, chair of AVTA's governing board. ``Stuff-A-Bus has become an Antelope Valley tradition, and we're proud to count some of the community's most prominent service organizations among our partners.''

The donations will be distributed by charities including the Children's Center of the Antelope Valley, Antelope Valley Domestic Violence Shelter, Grace Resource Center, Healthy Homes at Antelope Valley Hospital, Salvation Army, South Antelope Valley Emergency Services and United Community Action Network.

Volunteers will come from the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce, Lancaster West Rotary, Optimist Club of Palmdale, Paraclete High School and Zonta.

New unwrapped toys, new clothing items, and nonperishable food items can be dropped off at any of the locations.

The bus will be located:

Saturdays through Dec. 16 at Toys 'R' Us, 1335 W. Ave. K in Lancaster, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Sundays through Dec. 17 at Antelope Valley Mall, 1233 W. Ave. P in Palmdale, from noon to 6 p.m.

Dec. 1 and Dec. 15 at Kmart, 1810 W. Ave. J in Lancaster, from noon to 6 p.m.

Dec. 8 at Target, 39440 10th St. W in Palmdale, from noon to 6 p.m.
