After months of wondering whether players were coming or going, coaches can start filling out their rosters in ink. The start of the new school year has forced athletes finally to make a firm commitment: transfer or stay.

Two City Section schools - Canoga Park and Cleveland - came away the big winners in boys' basketball. Canoga Park has added 6-foot-5 sophomore Jamie Harris Jamie Harris is a Welsh professional footballer currently playing for Scottish Premier League club Dunfermline Athletic.

Jamie began his football career at hometown club Swansea City in 1996.

Two outstanding tennis players enrolled at Royal in Simi Valley. Anders Oding is a foreign-exchange student from Sweden. Alexandra Sizova is a foreign-exchange student from Ukraine.

In baseball, two Marmonte League The Marmonte League is a high school sports league primarily made up of schools from Ventura County. The Marmonte Leauge is part of the CIF Southern Section. Click here to view the league schedule.  teams - Newbury Park and Westlake - gained potential top players. Outfielder Barry Tolli, a highly recruited senior from Utah, joined the Panthers. Junior Garett Michaels, an infielder who hit over .400 at Oak Park last season, joins an already talent-laden Westlake junior class.

One athlete who didn't transfer was Calabasas pitcher Matt Jackson Matthew Alan "Matt" Jackson (born October 19, 1971 in Leeds, England) is an English footballer. He is a defender currently playing for Blackpool on loan from Watford. . He was set to enroll at Royal but decided to stay. The area's top incoming freshman track athlete, high jumper Schquay Brignac, enrolled at Cleveland instead of Taft.
