TRANSCONTINENTAL STARTS PUBLICATION OF FRENCH-LANGUAGE SPIN-OFF.

Transcontinental Publications (TPI; Montreal, PQ) has begun the publication of Finance & Investissement, a French-language spin-off of Investment Executive magazine. To be published 11 times a year, the launch has a controlled circulation of 15,000. TPI acquired Investment Executive and IE Money magazines last May as part of its purchase of Investment Executive Inc. (IEI; Toronto, ON).

Like its English-language counterpart, the new magazine is being targeted to mutual fund dealers, marketers, financial planners, stockbrokers, investment advisors, bankers and insurance executives. Editorial includes information on strategies in corporate financial management, securities analysis, portfolio management and laws and regulations. About 30% of content is translated from the English edition.

TPI said it launched the magazine because it believes the Quebec market is underserved. Last year's purchase of IEI gave TPI the assets with which to start the publication, TPI said.

TPI now claims to be among the largest financial information publishers in Canada and the only one to target both English and French readers. Its other business and personal finance magazines include Le Journal Les Affaires, Affaires Plus, Commerce, PHE and Le Journal Economique du Quebec. TPI is a subsidiary of G .T C.
