up some rays and get some great training weather, and there is nothing
like training with the people that you want to beat some day.
My training hasn't changed too much since my time at Oregon. Lance Deal Lance Earl Deal (born August 21, 1961 in Riverton, Wyoming) is a former American athlete who won a silver medal in the hammer throw in the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. He also competed in the 1988, 1992, and 2000 Summer Olympics. is still my throws coach, (strength coach) Jimmy Radcliffe still kicks my butt in the weight room and I still freeze in the cold tubs. My main goal for this season was to get strong, and I have, and to become more confident with my technique in the ring, which is coming along quite nicely. So far, my results don't show what really was going on in the ring, just a tad bit off. My next meet will be the Oregon Twilight on May 9, and I can't wait. Nothing like throwing in front of the home crowd. It will also be the first time that I get to throw out of the new hammer cage in Verb 1. cage in - confine in a cage; "The animal was caged" cage detain, confine - deprive of freedom; take into confinement a meet. My thoughts on the Olympic Trials aren't much different than thoughts for any other meet: Go throw my throw! I still get butterflies whenever I think about stepping into the ring on qualifying day, but I know that I will give it my all in hopes to make part of my dream come true. I have already gone through an Olympic Trials, in 2004, but this time it will be a little different focus - making the team! It helps to have the meet in my back yard, so I can sleep in my own bed and eat my own food. I still can't shake them butterflies, though as one great thrower used to say, it's great to have butterflies, just have them fly in formation. |
