TRAILING, G.H. PRESSES ON.Byline: Daily News Down by 14 points entering the fourth quarter, the Granada Hills High boys' basketball team successfully called on the press to get it back into its game against Chatsworth on Wednesday night. The host Highlanders outscored the Chancellors 23-2 over the final six minutes to nab a 69-62 victory in a West Valley League game. ``We showed a lot of character and a lot of heart,'' said Granada Hills coach Lou Cicciari. ``This was a real big game for us.'' Jorge Price had 22 points for the Highlanders (9-9, 1-2) who, according to Cicciari, weren't worried about their double-digit deficit in the fourth quarter. ``We never felt we were out of it,'' Cicciari said. ``I think it was just a matter of us being more precise in executing our offense. Also, I think the big thing was the press we put on them. It really surprised them.'' Midwin Francis added 13 points for Granada Hills, and Walter Burch and Rufus Parks each contributed 10. For the Chancellors (6-11, 0-3), Donald Ruffin had 22 points, and Shane Berry added 21. |
