The teddy bear, which serves as a central theme for the second- and third-grade class, went on a trip with four siblings siblings npl (formal) → frères et sœurs mpl (de mêmes parents) , all of them more than 80 years old, who toured the states in a motor home.

``I wanted to give my students something they could relate to,'' said Grimes. ``It's as if we've been on a trip, too.''

The teddy bear was escorted by Grime's relatives: Jeannette Steward, Louise Oliver, Beth Ferris and Bill Steward - three sisters and a brother who recently lost their spouses and wanted to take the trip to visit relatives.

``They all had places they wanted to be,'' Grimes said. ``They wanted to go before they couldn't travel any more.''
