TRACOR RECEIVES CONTRACT FOR NAVY COMMAND & CONTROL

 CALIFORNIA, Md., Feb. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Tracor Applied Sciences, Inc. announced today it was awarded a five-year contract (including options) with a total value of $20.8 million by the Naval Regional Contracting Center, Philadelphia, to provide engineering and technical services to the Naval Electronics Systems Engineering Activity, St. Inigoes, Md., in support of Navy Command and Control Systems (NCCS).
 Under the contract, Tracor Applied Sciences employees in the Electronic Systems Division will support the modernization of NCCS equipment and subsystems, integration and test of U.S. Navy Ashore Sector Warfare Operations Centers worldwide, and the development and support of international military sales projects.
 "We have been providing overall support for the Navy's NCCS program for more than 20 years," said K. Bruce Hamilton, president, Tracor Applied Sciences.
 More specifically, Tracor employees will perform systems engineering, configuration management, test and evaluation, quality assurance, integrated logistics support, formal and on-the-job training, and provide program management assistance for the worldwide command and control program. Specific duties support the development of engineering changes and upgrades to the existing hardware and software elements of the NCCS program to take advantage of state-of-the-art technology and improved methods of data-processing capabilities.
 The program will be conducted by Tracor employees in California, Md., under the direction of Martin A. Brown, program manager, and Robert F. Weiland, division vice president and general manager of the Electronic Systems Division.
