All eyes will be on Allyson Felix Allyson Felix (born November 18, 1985 in Los Angeles, California) is a track and field sprint athlete, competing internationally for the United States in the 200 meters. Felix, born and raised in southern California, is also a devout Christian and is the daughter of an ordained  of L.A. Baptist Baptist

This is Felix's first major outdoor meet in her quest to break Marion Jones' national high school record in the event. Jones' Arcadia record of 22.87 seconds could be the first to fall since Felix ran 23.08 to win last year and went on to win the state title in 22.83.

Nineteen national records have been set in the meet, with open events scheduled during the day and invitational, or elite, races in the evening, when conditions are optimum for fast times.

--Sister act: Magda and Ola Besser have long talked about finishing first and second in a track meet. That it actually has happened is less surprising than the fact they go to different schools.

Ola, a senior at Alemany of Mission Hills, won the long jump a spot ahead of Magda, a freshman at Chaminade of West Hills. Ola also won the high jump, and her 400-relay team beat Magda's squad. However, Magda won the 100 and her team won the meet 66-60.

``We both wanted our teams to win, but I think we secretly we're both rooting for each other to do well individually,'' Ola said. ``We were both really excited for the meet. We kept talking about it and about how well we thought we were going to do.''

The sisters both attended Chaminade Middle School, but Ola decided to go to Alemany while Magda, when her turn came, opted to remain with her friends.

They compete in track to maintain conditioning for their principal passion, soccer. Magda's team also beat Ola in soccer this season.

``I don't want to beat her at anything because I feel bad,'' Magda said. ``But it's fun to face each other because usually she doesn't get to see me play. It felt good to have my sister there rooting for me even though we're not on the same team.''

--Joining elite: Last season, Monroe of North Hills' Manuel Ruiz Manuel Ruiz Pérez (born December 3, 1962 in Jerez de la Frontera) is a Spanish football coach and former player.

During his football career, he played for several clubs including his childhood club Xerez CD, UD Melilla and Sanluqueño.

However, Ruiz showed this season in the Pasadena Games he is ready to challenge the elite. He led for the first six laps and finished with a personal best of 9:05.

``That's what I am going to try to see,'' Ruiz said. ``I want to see if I can stay with (the elite). I think I need to work a little bit harder, but I believe I am able to compete with them.''
