Fred Williams Frederick Ronald (Fred) Williams is an is an Australian painter and printmaker.

He was born in 1927 in Melbourne, Australia.

He was one of Australia’s most important artists, and one the twentieth century’s major painters of the landscape.
 placed first in three events to lead the Taft High boys' track team (1-0) to a 90-42 victory over Belmont Belmont (bĕl`mŏnt).

 46: Gerardo Rubi won the triple jump with a leap of 35-4 1/2 for the host Tigers (0-1) in the nonleague loss. Rubi also won the 400 meters with a time of 56.34. Fernando Camberos won the shot put with a distance of 35-3 for San Fernando.

--Sylmar 71, North Hollywood 35: Byron Hunnicutt led the way for the visiting Spartans (1-0), winning three events in the win over the host Huskies (0-1) in a nonleague meet. Hunnicutt won the 100 meters in 11.3 seconds, the 200 meters in 23.8 seconds and helped Sylmar win the 400- meter relay in 47.9 seconds. Daryl Penn also won three events for the Spartans, winning the 400 meters in 58 seconds and helping the team win the 400- and 1600-meter relay races relay race

In girls' track:

--Monroe 83, Poly 28: Host Monroe's Rasheeda Gray showed both great speed and leaping ability in the host Vikings of North Hills' win over the Parrots of Sun Valley in a nonleague meet. Gray took first place in the 100 meters with a time of 12.9 seconds. She also placed first in the high jump with a mark of 4-10. The Parrots won just two events on the day, taking first place in the long jump and shot put.

--Taft 73, Belmont 45: Erin Reed helped the host Toreadors start the season in grand fashion, winning three events in Taft's (1-0) win. Reed took first in the 220- and 440-meter races with times of 25.2 and 58.5 seconds, respectively. She also helped the Toreadors win the 400-meter relay. Deneeka Torrey won two events for Taft. She took the 100 low hurdles with a time of 14.4 seconds and she won in the 300 low hurdles with a time of 47.2.

--Canoga Park 89, San Fernando 24: Martha Arrizon, Mayra Torres, Maria Fergoso and Marta Credillo were all part of the host Tigers' (0-1) 1,600 meter relay team, which won in 5:10. Arrizon won two other events, placing first in the 100 low hurdles with a time of 19.38 seconds and winning the 300 low hurdles in 54.79 seconds.
