TPV Technology Selects Genesis' New gm5621 LCD Controller Family for Multiple LCD Monitor Platforms.

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Genesis(R) Microchip Inc. (Nasdaq:GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) The European term for a global satellite-based radio navigation system.  Technology has selected Genesis' gm5621 and gm2621 series for its new XGA (EXtended Graphics Array) A screen resolution of 1,024x768 pixels. The term stems from IBM's XGA display standard introduced in 1990, which extended VGA to 132-column text and interlaced 1,024x768x256 resolution. XGA-2 later added non-interlaced 1,024x768x64K.  and SXGA (Super XGA) A screen resolution of 1280x1024 pixels. SXGA is commonly used on standard monitors, but provides a 1.25:1 aspect ratio, compared to the more common 1.33:1 (4:3) ratio. SXGA+ has a 1400x1050 resolution, which is an exact 1.33:1 ratio. See PC display modes.  LCD monitor platforms.

The new series offers industry-leading levels of integration in an LCD monitor controller and features a single chassis solution for all LCD monitor applications. The gm5621 LCD controller series integrates the microcontroller using a serial flash interface for pin count efficiency and includes a number of derivative controllers that enable customers to target all LCD monitor segments (analog or dual, XGA or SXGA) with a single PCB PCB: see polychlorinated biphenyl.

. Its firmware is also compatible with Genesis' previous generation of gm5321 LCD monitor controllers, reducing customer design time and costs. The gm5621 product family also offers new Instant Auto(TM) technology, which provides fast and accurate image alignment for both static and moving images of the VGA (Video Graphics Array) The display standard for the PC. "We selected Genesis' gm5621 family of display controllers for our high volume display products based on Genesis history of providing innovative features, design support and product reliability," said Neng-Sung Lee, assistant general manager of TPV's R&D Division. "Along with high quality and reliability, the gm5621 also provides very low system cost by reducing the number of components and board size required in our display platforms."

"We are pleased that leading display manufacturers like TPV Technology are able to incorporate our new family of display controllers across a broad range of LCD monitor platforms," said Raphael Mehrbians, Genesis Microchip's senior vice president of Product Marketing. "Because of its versatility of design and patented image processing technologies, the gm5621 family is rapidly gaining design traction with the world's leading monitor manufacturers."

The monitors TPV developed with gm5621 family include 15-inch and 17-inch analog only models, 15-inch and 17-inch analog with RSDS RSDS Reduced Swing Differential Signal

The gm5621 family offers Genesis' patented advanced image processing technologies, an industry-proved integrated ADC/PLL and Ultra-Reliable DVI compliant receiver for both XGA and SXGA display resolutions. In addition, it features an on-chip RSDS and LVDS transmitter, a multicolor proportional font OSD engine and is available in a 128QFP package.
