TPC-C: new modular unisys ES7000/520 server tops eight-way performance.

The best eight-way server See 8-way.  performance and best price/performance ever achieved in the TPC-C A benchmark that measures overall transaction processing performance. See TPC.  benchmark was recorded recently by the new Unisys ES7000/520 server.

Part of the new extension to the ES7000 server line announced recently, the server's score reflects the price/performance benefits achieved through the compact, modular adaptation of the Unisys Cellular MultiProcessing See CMP.

server architecture, which includes the ability to scale up to 32 processors.

The same architecture is used in Unisys ClearPath mainframes to provide enterprise-capable reliability, scalability and uninterrupted availability.

The Unisys ES7000/520 eight-way server recorded 118,381.38 transactions per minute (tpmC) at $5.56/tpmC, applying the power of the latest Intel Xeon processor MP and Microsoft's SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition database running on the Windows Server 2003 Datacenter Edition operating system. The servers are available immediately.

The system with Windows Server 2003 Datacenter Edition operating system is available May 30, 2003.

This achievement makes the Unisys ES7000/520 the best performing and lowest cost eight-way server on the market, and tops the eight-way HP Proliant DL760-G2 8P, due for release later this year. It also beats the IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries)  x440 eight-way server results, which were withdrawn from the Transaction Processing Performance Council Transaction Processing Performance Council (TPC) is a non-profit organization founded in 1985 to define transaction processing and database benchmarks and to disseminate objective, verifiable TPC performance data to the industry. .

"This is the ultimate validation of our success in merging PC economics with the performance and reliability of mainframes," said Mark Feverston, vice president, Unisys Enterprise Server Marketing. "Enterprises no longer have to pay a premium to successfully handle their most demanding business solutions."

The test was conducted using the Transaction Processing Performance Council's "C" methodology for measuring online transaction processing See transaction processing and OLCP.  (OLTP (OnLine Transaction Processing) See transaction processing and OLCP.
