TOYOTA SALES RISE 2.2 PERCENT IN SECOND 10-DAY PERIOD OF JULY

 TORRANCE, Calif., July 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc. today reported that its total vehicle sales for the second 10-day period of July rose 2.2 percent to 27,178 compared to the same period in 1992. CYTD sales are at 558,571, up 1.8 percent over the same period last year.
 Lexus reported sales of 1,832 cars for the 10-day period, down 5.4 percent, and 49,352 CYTD, up 5.2 percent over the same period last year.
 Toyota sales leaders for the 10 days include Camry mid-size sedan and wagon, up 15.8 percent to 8,162. The Tercel subcompact sedan rose 18.1 percent to 2,562. The 4Runner compact sport utility vehicle increased 12.8 percent to 1,149, and sales of the Land Cruiser luxury sport utility vehicle were up 15.6 percent to 230.
 Toyota's North American-built vehicles account for 49.2 percent of sales for the 10-day period, up from 48.6 percent in the same period last year, and 45.4 percent CYTD, up from 38.5 percent for the same period last year. The U.S.-built Camry increased 16.7 percent to 6,154 in the 10 days, and the U.S.-built Toyota compact pickups increased 40.6 percent to 2,961.
 Total Toyota pickup sales, including the new T100 intermediate-size pickup, rose 13.7 percent to 5,443. CYTD pickup sales rose 17.7 percent to 105,562.
