TOYOTA REPORTS SECOND 10-DAY SALES FOR MARCH
TORRANCE, Calif., March 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Toyota Motor Sales (TMS),

U.S.A. Inc. today reported that total vehicle sales for the second 10-day period of March were up 32 percent over the same period last year.
"Although consumer confidence is still lagging, we're finally seeing some positive movement in housing starts and factory orders for durable goods," said Bob McCurry, TMS executive vice president. "I think the steady gains in auto sales over last year reflect guarded optimism on the part of the consumer."
Toyota's strong showing for the period was boosted by big increases in its domestically built vehicles, with Camry posting a 44.4 percent gain, and Corolla a 29.8 percent jump, over the same period last year. So far this year, more than a third of all Toyota vehicles sold in America were domestically built.
Toyota's Lexus Division continues to enjoy strong calendar-year-to- date sales. Led by a 100 percent increase in the sales of its ES250/ES300, Lexus Division year-to-date sales are 116 percent ahead of last year.
Below is a complete breakdown of 10-day and year-to-date sales.
