TOYOTA REPORTS MONTH-END SALES FOR MARCH

TOYOTA REPORTS MONTH-END SALES FOR MARCH
TORRANCE, Calif., April 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Toyota Motor Sales

(TMS), U.S.A., Inc., today reported that total vehicle sales for the month of March were up 9.7 percent over the same period last year.
"Consumer confidence is up, and our dealers are reporting heavier traffic and more motivated buyers," said Bob McCurry, TMS executive vice president. "We're not out of the hole yet and the recovery will definitely be slow, but we're finally seeing a true willingness to commit on the part of the consumer."
Total vehicle calender-year-to-date sales are now running 12.2 percent ahead of last year, boosted in large part by big increases in Toyota's domestically built Camry and Corolla. March sales for the domestic Corolla jumped 16.1 percent, with year-to-date sales running 21.6 percent ahead of last year. March domestic Camry sales increased 7.3 percent, with year-to-date sales improving by 18.9 percent over the same period last year.
Toyota's Lexus Division continues to enjoy strong calendar-year-to- date sales. Led by a 91 percent increase in the sales of its ES250/ES300, Lexus Division year-to-date sales are ahead of last year by nearly 100 percent.
