Travelers can dig for dinosaur bones alongside professional paleontologists at the Egg Mountain area near Choteau, Mont.

The Museum of the Rockies The Museum of the Rockies is located in Bozeman, Montana, and is known for its paleontological collections. The Museum is also part of Montana State University in Bozeman. The Museum of the Rockies houses the largest collection of dinosaur remains in the United States (even more  at Montana State University Montana State University, at Bozeman; land-grant; coeducational; chartered 1893. It is primarily a technical institution specializing in agriculture, engineering, and applied sciences. The Museum of the Rockies is there.  at Bozeman sponsors the program. Daylong sessions geared to families are scheduled June 25 and 28. Included are instruction in fossil identification, a tour of the sites and several hours of fossil exploration in the badlands badlands, area of severe erosion, usually found in semiarid climates and characterized by countless gullies, steep ridges, and sparse vegetation. Badland topography is formed on poorly cemented sediments that have few deep-rooted plants because short, heavy showers . Price is $95.

Weeklong sessions, at a cost of $990, run June 29-July 5, July 13-19, July 27-Aug. 2 or Aug. 3-9, and include prospecting for fossils, small tool and rock excavation and gathering geologic data. Evening programs include lectures, slide shows and a tour of The Nature Conservancy's grizzly bear grizzly bear or grizzly, large, powerful North American brown bear, characterized by gray-streaked, or grizzled, fur. Grizzlies are 6 to 8 ft (180–250 cm) long, stand 3 1-2 to 4 ft (105–120 cm) at the humped shoulder, and weigh up to  habitat at the nearby Pine Butte Butte, city, United States
